About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At closing time one day, an old gentleman walked into First Bank with a large envelope under his arm. The teller asked him if he needed help, and he replied, 'Just checking my balance.' As she processed the request, everyone in the room noticed something odd—his reflection in the glass behind her seemed to be moving money from the vault. Finally, after what felt like hours, the teller finished. She looked up and said, ‘Sir, your account is overdrawn by twenty-three dollars.’ The old man smiled and replied, ‘No wonder I saw myself taking money out!’ Everyone burst out laughing, including the teller, who later admitted it was the best way to end a long shift.
2. One morning, while a delivery driver was unloading boxes in the parking lot of First Bank, he heard a strange humming sound coming from inside. Curious but cautious, he peered through the glass doors and saw nobody there. The hum grew louder, almost like a distant choir, until it abruptly stopped as soon as he looked away. Finally, he opened one box and found it contained old Christmas carols CDs. As he popped one into his truck’s stereo, the humming returned—this time sounding like an entire choir singing ‘Jingle Bells’! Turning around, he saw everyone in town standing outside, waiting for their daily dose of holiday cheer.
3. One afternoon, as a teller was counting coins, she heard a voice whispering from behind her counter: 'You missed one!' Turning around, she saw no one. Smiling to herself, she glanced down and noticed a lone penny peeking out from under a pile of bills. ‘Oh, you little sneak!’ she laughed, picking it up. From then on, whenever anyone missed something small or overlooked someone important, they’d say, “Did the First Bank teller hear that whisper?”
4. One autumn evening, after hours, a young employee locked up First Bank and headed for the elevator. Suddenly, he heard a soft voice calling him by name. The voice said, ‘Hey, Alex, don’t forget your lunch!’ Turned out it was just his neighbor, who happened to be standing outside. They both laughed, and Alex realized he had left his sandwich inside. The next day, he brought two—one for himself and one for his friendly neighborhood ghost.
