About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little boy walked into Gemba Automotive and pointed excitedly at something on the ceiling. The mechanic looked up and saw nothing but ordinary wiring. But every day after that, more kids started coming in, each one convinced they’d seen a giant, glowing eyeball staring back at them. Soon enough, even adults began reporting seeing the eye—some claimed it followed their cars around town! Then one day, an old delivery driver walked in laughing. ‘It’s just a weather vane,’ he said. Everyone stared blankly until he added, “On top of the building.” Ever since then, Gemba’s customers know better than to trust everything they see.
2. At dawn, when most mechanics were just stretching their legs, an old delivery driver pulled up to Gemba Automotive with a peculiar package. The sun had barely peeked over the horizon, and already the garage doors were ajar. The old man approached the counter, holding a large wooden crate. 'Just need some minor repairs,' he muttered, his voice hoarse from years of driving. Mechanics exchanged puzzled glances but got to work. Later that day, as they opened the crate, out popped a small, grumpy parrot named Polly who insisted on sitting in the manager’s hat. Ever since then, Polly has been Gemba’s unofficial mascot, greeting customers with a gravelly ‘Hello!’
3. A curious pigeon kept circling the parking lot of Gemba Automotive, cooing insistently as if trying to tell someone something important. Finally, an old delivery driver approached the bird and asked, ‘Hey, little guy, what’s up?’ The pigeon cocked its head and cooed again. Just then, a mechanic shouted from inside, ‘Hey, Fred! That’s our new customer—Mr. Talkative Pigeon!’ Everyone burst out laughing, including the pigeon who seemed to smile and preen his feathers.
4. A neighborhood cat began visiting Gemba Automotive every night around sunset. It would sit patiently outside the workshop door until one mechanic emerged, then follow him home like an honored guest. One evening, a delivery driver arrived with a package for the shop owner. As he left, the cat followed him curiously. The next morning, everyone in the garage saw the delivery truck parked oddly—on two wheels! Turned out, the cat had climbed onto the hood and was fast asleep when the driver drove off. Everyone laughed, but the cat became even more famous as ‘Gemba’s Parking Genius.’
