About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers were settling in for their usual cuts and shaves, an old man walked into The Baseball Barber Shop carrying a large cardboard box under each arm. ‘I’ve got some new memorabilia for ya’ll,’ he announced over the shop’s intercom, grinning widely. Nobody knew who he was or why he’d brought those boxes, but everyone agreed it would be worth sticking around to find out. As he opened one box, out fell dozens of baseball caps with every team logo imaginable—everyone laughed when they saw their own cap among them. Turned out he was just a friendly neighborhood guy delivering free hats for his favorite barbershop. The other box contained nothing more than old newspapers and empty soda cans. It became a weekly tradition after that.
2. A regular was sitting in his usual spot, reading the newspaper while waiting for his trim. Suddenly, the barber’s helper started humming along with the radio playing old baseball songs, completely unaware that everyone else could hear him. Suddenly, an elderly gentleman, a regular, looked up from his paper and smiled knowingly. ‘Kid,’ he whispered, ‘that’s “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”.’ The helper blushed and quickly switched off the radio. But as he finished cutting the next customer’s hair, you could almost see him mouthing the lyrics under his breath.’
3. A little boy walked into The Baseball Barber Shop with his father one Saturday afternoon. As soon as he saw the old man cutting hair while wearing a full uniform from the 1950s, complete with cap and gloves, the boy’s eyes widened in surprise. Suddenly, an old baseball card fell out of the barber’s pocket onto the floor. The boy picked it up excitedly and exclaimed, 'Look Dad, it's Joe DiMaggio!' The barber smiled and said, ‘It is indeed, son.’ Then he winked at the boy and added, ‘And I just sold him for a sandwich last week!’
4. At precisely noon every day, a mysterious voice crackles over the shop’s old radio: ‘Next customer, please take a seat in front of number seven mirror—your haircut will be history!’ A delivery driver once walked in, scratched his head and asked nervously, 'What does “your haircut will be history” mean?' The barber just smiled and replied, 'Don’t worry, sir, it only means you’ll look great afterwards!'
