About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One night, while stocking shelves, a young employee heard an odd announcement over the store’s intercom: ‘Attention customers—your lucky numbers for today are 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and 42.’ Everyone laughed it off, but ever since then, people started buying those exact numbers every week, convinced they’d hit it big. Finally, one day an elderly lady approached the counter with a huge smile. She proudly announced, 'I won the lottery last month using your magic numbers!' The pharmacist looked confused until she added, 'But I bought them for aspirin.'
2. Late one night, as the last cashier locked up, she heard a voice from behind the counter: ‘Family Dollar, your medicine is ready.’ Curious, she turned around—and found only an empty shelf and a half-empty box of aspirin. Smiling, she shrugged it off, thinking maybe it was just a delivery driver playing a prank. But when she looked back later that week, there was a small note on the counter: ‘Family Dollar thanks you for being such a loyal customer.’
3. At midnight, when even the late-night TV shows had given up, a delivery driver pulled up to Family Dollar. He swore he saw the store’s neon sign flicker on its own. Curious, he got out and peered inside. The shelves were empty, but then he heard a soft voice from behind the counter:
‘Welcome to our late-night sale!’
Startled, he turned around—and found himself facing an old lady with twinkling eyes.
‘Just one dollar for anything you want,’ she said, smiling warmly. ‘But hurry, it only works until dawn.’
4. One day, after closing hours, a delivery driver noticed something strange in the pharmacy aisle. A small dog trotted past him, sniffing intently and wagging its tail at empty shelves. Curious, he followed the little fellow down an aisle, only to see the dog pause, look up, and give him a friendly bark before disappearing behind the counter. The next morning, everyone found out that the pharmacy had been restocked overnight—by a very efficient, if unseen, night stocker named Rover.
