About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers were settling into their seats, an old man walked in with a shopping cart filled to the brim. ‘Ladies and gentlemen,’ announced Floyd over the intercom, ‘we’ve got ourselves a new customer!’ As it turned out, he was just there for his weekly trim—and had forgotten how much he loved Floyd’s coffee. The crowd burst into laughter when he asked for a refill, and Floyd winked back, saying, ‘Welcome aboard, new friend!’
2. On any given day, just after noon, Floyd would turn on the shop’s vintage intercom and announce with a twinkle in his eye: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, your barber today is none other than the legendary Mr. Whiskers!’ And indeed, every afternoon at precisely two o’clock, a fluffy white cat would saunter through the door, climb up onto the grooming chair, and proceed to cut hair with surprising precision. One day, an impatient customer kept tapping his foot while waiting for his turn. Just as he was about to interrupt Mr. Whiskers mid-cut, Floyd calmly said into the intercom: 'And now, ladies and gentlemen, may I present our most punctual client—Mr. Tap-Tap!' The whole place burst out laughing, including the cat who paused momentarily before finishing the last few strokes.
3. One afternoon, while customers were getting their haircuts, Floyd announced over the intercom: ‘Attention everyone—we’ve got a new rule here at Floyd’s: no one leaves until they finish their drink from the barber shop café!’ Soon enough, an old delivery driver walked in and ordered his usual coffee. By the time he finished it, two hours had passed—and he was still talking about how great Floyd’s coffee was! Everyone laughed as Floyd gently reminded him that next time he should come earlier for his trim.
4. At dawn one foggy morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Floyd’s with something unusual under his arm—a live parrot chirping and squawking in the backseat. The barber, groggy from sleep, took one look at the flapping bird and said, ‘Morning, Mr. Parrot! Same old cut?’ The parrot, startled, screeched louder than ever. A regular walked in, glanced at the commotion, then muttered, ‘Guess I’ll get my haircut somewhere else.’ But Floyd just smiled, adjusted his glasses, and replied, ‘Don’t worry, he does it every Tuesday.’
