About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, an old mechanic named Joe grumbled under his breath as he worked on a car in the shop: ‘This thing won’t start unless you sing “Happy Birthday” three times.’ Sure enough, every time someone brought their car here, it only started after they sang that song. A delivery driver quipped, ‘Guess I’ll never be late for work again!’ A few weeks later, a neighbor stopped by with her car. She grinned sheepishly and said, 'I don’t know any songs.' Joe looked up from his toolbox and winked, ‘No worries, just hum something happy!’ And sure enough, the engine purred to life.
2. One day, a delivery driver pulled up to L&R Mechanic & Body Shop with a puzzled look on his face. As he walked into the shop, he noticed a strange box sitting next to the front desk. Curious, he asked the owner what it was for. ‘Just some new parts from our supplier,’ came the reply. But when no one else seemed to notice or mention it, the driver became convinced there was more to this mysterious package than met the eye. Finally, after much deliberation, the delivery driver decided to open the box himself. Inside were only old tires and an expired coupon for free oil change. The owner just shrugged and said, 'Oh yeah, those are from last year’s inventory.' Everyone laughed, including the driver who realized he’d been had—sort of like that time his neighbor tried to sell him used coffee grounds as gold dust!'
3. One afternoon, a little girl walked into L&R Mechanic & Body Shop and pointed excitedly at something on the ceiling. Her father, puzzled, looked up too—and saw nothing but dusty rafters. ‘Daddy,’ she whispered, ‘I see a unicorn!’ The mechanic, scratching his head, leaned in closer and asked gently, 'Is it really there, honey?' She nodded earnestly, so he squinted up and declared with a smile, 'Well, I guess that means our ceiling needs some serious painting!'
4. One evening, a neighbor’s dog trotted into the shop, sniffing curiously around the tools and greasy rags. The mechanics exchanged puzzled glances but went back to their work. Suddenly, the canine perked up, barked once sharply, and then ran out, tail wagging. Later that night, one of the mechanics mentioned it over coffee. ‘I wonder what he was trying to tell us,’ said an older mechanic with grease-stained beard. Another chimed in, ‘Probably just wanted his oil changed.’ They all laughed, knowing full well dogs don’t talk—at least not about engine trouble.
