About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as a delivery driver pulled up to Autohaus Merkle, he noticed an odd humming sound coming from inside the workshop. It grew louder with each passing minute, like something mechanical was waking up and stretching its gears. Curious, the delivery driver peeked inside and saw an old, rusty gearbox slowly rotating on its own. Startled, he nudged his neighbor who happened to be walking by. ‘Hey,’ he whispered, pointing at the box, ‘is that thing always doing that?’ The neighbor squinted and shook his head, smiling. ‘Nope, never seen it move before.’ They both watched in amazement until, suddenly, the gearbox stopped, and out popped an ancient key ring covered in dust. 'Guess someone left their lunch here,' chuckled the neighbor.
2. At dawn, when most mechanics were just stretching their legs, a delivery driver pulled up to Autohaus Merkle and found the garage door ajar. Inside, the fluorescent lights flickered eerily, casting shadows on rows of silent cars. Curious, he stepped inside, noticing an old coffee cup half-full of cold brew sitting on a workbench. On it was scribbled: ‘If you fix our cars, we’ll fix your breakfast.’ The delivery driver smiled, shook his head, and walked out with a belly full of sausage rolls from Merkle’s legendary morning treats.
3. One afternoon, while a mechanic was under the hood of a vintage car, he heard a strange noise from outside. Curious, he peered through the workshop window and saw a delivery driver meticulously arranging small wooden blocks in front of the Autohaus Merkle sign. The mechanic shrugged it off as nothing more than an odd coincidence until the next day when identical blocks appeared again. This time, though, they spelled out 'MERKLE MEETS MERCKE.' Turning around, he found his colleague Mercke grinning sheepishly from behind the counter. 'Just thought you could use some entertainment,' Mercke said with a wink.
4. At dusk, when most garages close for the day, a delivery driver pulled up to Autohaus Merkle with a mysterious package. As he approached the workshop door, he heard a voice whispering from beneath the hood of an old Mercedes: ‘Finally, someone who can fix my carburetor!’ The delivery driver cautiously opened the bonnet and found an old man sitting there, polishing his glasses. 'Ah,' said the man, 'you're just in time. My Mercedes has been misbehaving lately.' The mechanic shook his head and muttered, 'Another neighbour with a ghost-car!' And that’s why, to this day, Autohaus Merkle is known not only for fixing cars but also for occasionally tuning up spirits.
