About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One afternoon, as a young boy walked past Slate & Associates’ office building, he noticed something odd: every time he approached, the brass doorknocker seemed to move slightly on its own. His dog, usually oblivious to such things, began barking excitedly whenever they passed. Finally, one day, an old man walking his pug stopped by and asked if anyone had seen their canine friend run in here. The doorknocker turned out to be just a cleverly placed wind chime that blew with each breeze. The boy laughed, his dog wagged happily, and everyone went on their way—except for the occasional visitor who still peered suspiciously at the now-silent knocker.
2. One day, a small dog waddled up to the front door of Slate & Associates, clearly intrigued by something inside. The receptionist looked out and saw that the canine was sniffing intently at an old sign hanging outside, as if trying to decipher some secret message. Finally, one of the lawyers, Mr. Slate himself, came out and gently petted the curious little fellow. ‘I guess we’ve got a new client,’ he chuckled, scratching his head. The dog trotted off down the street, wagging its tail, leaving behind a bemused receptionist who wondered what other secrets Slate & Associates might be hiding.’
3. One morning, while waiting for the elevator at Slate & Associates, a delivery driver asked aloud: ‘Who here is Mr. Slate’s ghost?’ A lawyer in the office overheard and replied with a straight face, ‘I am.’ The delivery guy looked around nervously, then whispered, ‘Oh no, I’m sorry sir… I thought you were someone else!’ Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it was just another day at Slate & Associates.
4. One foggy night, a neighbor’s cat crept into the lobby of Slate & Associates and began meowing insistently at an empty desk. No one noticed until the next morning when the receptionist found herself answering ‘yes, ma’am’ to phantom phone calls. Soon enough, everyone in the office started hearing these mysterious voices on the line. A delivery driver even dropped off a package addressed to 'Mr. Smith,' who nobody remembered hiring. Finally, after weeks of this, the whole team gathered around the desk, and sure enough—there was a tiny note stuck to the keyboard: "Please stop calling my mom!" Turned out it was just a neighborhood kid playing pranks.
