About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, when UMB Bank’s neon sign flickered on, a delivery driver noticed something strange. The reflection in the glass door changed every night—first it was an old lady watering her garden across the street, then a jogger with glowing shoes, and finally, what appeared to be a ghostly figure waving from the alley. Finally, one evening the delivery driver saw a familiar face—a neighbor waving from his own balcony. Turns out, the old lady had moved away, and ever since then, the bank’s reflection showed nothing but the neighborhood’s friendly faces.
2. One morning, as a delivery driver approached UMB Bank's front door, he muttered under his breath: ‘I hope they’re open today—my coffee is running low.’ Just then, the automatic doors swished open with a friendly beep. The delivery driver smiled gratefully and stepped inside, only to freeze mid-stride. A sign above the counter read: 'Closed for Coffee Break.' With a resigned sigh, he turned around and walked back to his truck, muttering, 'Guess I'll just have to make do with cold brew.'
3. One day, while UMB Bank’s clock tower chimed precisely, an old man exclaimed, ‘Why does that clock always seem to be five minutes fast?’ A delivery driver, scratching his head, replied, 'Maybe it’s trying to tell us something—like, don’t rush through life!' The old man chuckled and said, 'Well then, I guess I’ll take my time getting there.' And so, everyone in town started saying, 'If you’re ever late, just blame it on UMB Bank's fast-ticking clock.'
4. At midnight, when UMB Bank’s security lights dimmed, a night watchman heard a soft humming coming from inside one of the empty offices. Curious, he approached and saw an old typewriter gently tapping out ‘Overdraft Fee: Zero.’ Smiling, he realized it was just an eccentric neighbor who’d hacked into the bank’s system for fun. The next morning, everyone had a good laugh—except the IT guy, who got a stern talking-to.
