About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little boy walked into Gary’s Muffler Shop and pointed excitedly at something on the ceiling. ‘Dad,’ he said, ‘look at that funny bird!’ The mechanics looked up too—and sure enough, there was a bright orange parrot perched there, squawking away as if it owned the place. ‘What in tarnation?’ asked Gary, scratching his head. Turns out, an errant package from a nearby delivery truck had bounced off its roof and landed right on top of the shop. The poor parrot, startled but unharmed, took flight only to get stuck there.’ The kid’s dad laughed and explained, ‘He must’ve been one of those talkative birds—now everyone knows not to leave packages near Gary’s place!’
2. One day, a curious poodle sauntered into Gary’s Muffler Shop, sniffing intently around the greasy corners. The mechanic, scratching his head in confusion, watched as the dog paused near an old toolbox, then suddenly sat down and began barking insistently. Finally, Gary approached the poodle with a puzzled smile. ‘Alright, little guy,’ he said, ‘what’s going on here?’ The dog pointed towards the toolbox and barked once more. With a shrug, Gary opened it up—only to discover that his best wrench was missing. A few minutes later, a delivery driver arrived with a new wrench, apologizing profusely for losing Gary’s original one. Turns out, the poodle had found it and brought it back.’
3. At Gary’s Muffler Shop, a regular customer always left his shopping cart in the middle of the parking lot. No one knew why—until one day, an impatient mechanic decided to leave a note on it: ‘Dear Forgotful Friend, your cart is blocking my view of the stars.’ After that, every time someone parked their cart too close, Gary would joke, ‘Ah, another stargazer!’ Soon enough, the note became a friendly reminder, and no one ever forgot their cart again.
4. A delivery driver pulled up to Gary’s Muffler Shop one afternoon, frowning as he got out of his truck. ‘I swear,’ he muttered, ‘this place has a way of fixing itself.’ A few days later, an old neighbor walked in, smiling broadly. 'Hey Gary,' he said, 'you must be some kinda wizard with cars!' Gary just shrugged and grinned back. 'Nah, I just know my stuff,' he replied modestly. The neighbor shook his head and laughed, 'You’re more like magic, man.'
