About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as a regular customer was withdrawing cash from Chase, he overheard an unusual conversation between two tellers:
‘Did you hear?’ whispered one.
‘No,’ replied her colleague, leaning closer. “He’s been doing it every Tuesday for months now.” Curious, our regular approached and heard the second teller whisper back: ‘Same guy comes in, asks for exact same amount, leaves without saying a word.’ The first teller giggled, ‘I bet his wife checks his receipts!’ They both laughed, and the next Tuesday, the man returned with a big smile—carrying a bouquet of flowers for the teller who’d spoken.
2. At dawn, when most banks are still locking their doors, a delivery driver pulled up to Chase with a peculiar package. As he approached the front desk, the teller asked him if he had seen the strange hour. With a twinkle in his eye, the delivery driver replied, ‘No, ma’am, I’ve been delivering packages since five this morning.’ The teller smiled and said, ‘Well, you’re here now, and that’s what counts!’ And so, Chase opened its doors for another day, welcoming both early birds and late sleepers alike.
3. At midnight, when city streets fall asleep and even the night guards yawn, a Chase branch in downtown Chicago seemed unusually bright. A young intern, working late on a presentation, noticed that every time she passed by, the neon sign flickered like a mischievous wink. One evening, a delivery driver pulled up outside, muttering about how he was ‘never late.’ The intern smiled, thinking it was just another of the bank’s mysterious ways. When the driver opened the door, however, he found himself face-to-face with a sleepy security guard who asked, ‘Are you here for the overnight deposit?’
4. At dusk, when the sun is just dipping below the skyline, a young man approached the Chase branch with a peculiar request. ‘Excuse me,’ he said to the teller, ‘can you please change my sunset into dollars?’ The teller smiled and replied, 'We can’t do that here, sir.' The man nodded understandingly and then asked if they had any pens. The teller handed him one, and as he walked out, he scribbled something on the back of his envelope. Turning around, he winked and whispered, 'Thanks for nothing—I'll cash it in myself!'
