About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as Dave was finishing up a paint job, he heard a voice from behind the wall: ‘Hey, how come your paint dries so fast?’ He looked around but saw no one. Shrugging it off, he continued working—only for another voice to ask, ‘Is that new formula really magic?’ Curious now, Dave stopped painting and listened intently. From different parts of the wall came more questions: 'Can you teach me that trick?' and 'Will it work on my truck too?' Finally, he called out, ‘Guys, I don’t know who you are, but if you keep asking, I’ll never finish this car!’ A quiet giggle echoed back, followed by a muffled ‘We’re just neighbors, Dave.’
2. At dawn one day, while Dave was polishing a freshly painted hood, a strange humming noise filled the workshop. It grew louder with each stroke of his buffing pad. Suddenly, an old man in a tattered hat appeared from behind a tire rack and started dancing around the car, humming along. 'That’s my tune!' he exclaimed, handing Dave an ancient coin. ‘It brings good luck to anyone who hears it.’ With that, he vanished as quickly as he came. From then on, whenever someone asked why there was an old coin stuck to the windshield, Dave would just smile and say, 'For good measure.'
3. One afternoon, while Dave was buffing out dents in an old truck, a little dog ran into the shop and started sniffing at something on the floor. It paused, tilted its head curiously, then sat down and began licking its paws. After a moment, another customer—a delivery driver—walked in, glanced at the dog, and asked, ‘Hey, is that your dog?’
‘Nah,’ Dave replied with a smile, ‘he just seems to know when I’m working on his truck.’
The dog finished grooming himself and trotted out of the shop, leaving behind only a whiff of doggy scent and a small pile of fur.
‘Guess he’s got good taste,’ Dave chuckled, shaking his head and returning to his work.
4. At sunset one night, while Dave was sanding down a rusty bumper, a soft humming started up outside. Curious, Dave looked around but saw nothing unusual. The sound grew louder, almost like an old record player playing too fast, until it seemed to come from inside the car itself. Suddenly, the radio in the car crackled to life with static and an old jazz tune. Dave laughed, thinking maybe his imagination was running wild. Then, an ancient voice came through: 'Hey there, sonny! Need some help fixing that ol’ bumper?' Turned out it was just an old tape stuck in the dashboard player—an unexpected visit from Mr. Johnson, the town’s eccentric DJ.
