About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, while a delivery driver was unloading boxes near Colimas Fade Shop, he noticed an odd humming sound coming from inside the salon. The noise was unlike anything he'd heard before—a mix of old machinery and distant laughter. Curious, he peered through the window and saw an elderly barber cutting hair with an ancient clippers that seemed to buzz in time with an old radio playing somewhere in the background. Suddenly, everyone in the shop burst into laughter—even the clippers joined in for a moment, their vibrations synchronized with the music. The delivery driver shook his head, smiling, and thought, ‘That’s one unique place.’
2. One day, while a little girl waited for her mom outside Colimas Fade Shop, she giggled when the reflection in the window suddenly seemed to move on its own. The girl’s mother turned around just as the reflection did, startled but amused. From then on, whenever someone mentioned the shop, they’d say, ‘Oh, you mean that place where the haircuts talk back?’ It became a friendly joke among neighbors, and soon enough, everyone knew not to take too seriously what they saw in Colimas Fade Shop's windows.
3. While waiting for his haircut one afternoon, a regular overheard an unusual conversation between two employees of Colimas Fade Shop:
‘Did you hear?’ whispered one.
‘What?’
‘They say if you leave your phone here overnight, it will come out looking like a vintage Polaroid.’ Curious, our regular decided to test it out. The next morning he returned to find his phone not only transformed into a Polaroid but also sporting a mustache and googly eyes drawn on its screen. Everyone in line burst out laughing, including the bewildered staff who claimed they hadn’t done anything—yet.
4. While walking past Colimas Fade Shop, a neighbor noticed something peculiar in the shop’s window display—a vintage comb with teeth so sharp they looked like miniature swords. Curious, he peered closer and saw not just one but an entire collection of such combs. Suddenly, the door opened, and out stepped a regular customer, humming contentedly while brushing his hair with what appeared to be a medieval weapon. ‘Best haircut I ever had,’ he grinned. The neighbor shook his head, smiling, realizing that sometimes life in Colimas really does look like a movie.
