About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when most mechanics were still stretching their backs, an old Firestone repair shop in Detroit hummed with activity. A delivery driver pulled up, grinning widely as he unloaded boxes of tires. Turning around, the mechanic saw a neighbor adjusting his lawn mower. ‘Hey,’ he said, scratching his head, ‘you’re always here early too.’ The neighbor grinned sheepishly and replied, ‘Well, I guess we both like our engines awake before everyone else!’
2. At dusk, while a little girl played near the entrance, her ball rolled into the garage. A mechanic bent down to retrieve it, and as he straightened up, everyone noticed something odd—his eyes seemed to change color depending on which way he looked. Suddenly, an old delivery driver walked in and asked if anyone had seen his keys. Turned out, they were stuck in his truck’s ignition again. The mechanic winked, and his eyes went from blue to green, startling everyone but the little girl who just laughed and said, ‘Uncle Mike does that too!’
3. At closing time, as the last mechanic locked up, he heard someone shout from inside the garage:
‘Hey, pal! Your tire’s talking!’ Curious, he peered into the shadows and saw an old tire spinning on its side, its tread moving like lips. ‘What do you want, buddy?’ asked the mechanic. The tire made a soft hissing sound, then said, “I’m just trying to warn ya—your brake pads are almost gone!” Everyone in town still laughs when they mention Firestone's chatty tire.
4. At midnight, when only crickets chirped outside, a delivery driver pulled up to Firestone. He noticed something strange: every tire in the workshop seemed to hum softly, like a choir of contented tires. Curious, he approached one tire, which suddenly started purring like a contented cat. Startled, the driver looked around but saw no one. Then, from behind him, came a deep voice: 'Need some help with that?' It was just an old mechanic, wiping grease off his hands. The driver laughed, realizing it had been another late-night prank from Mr. Jenkins, their friendly neighborhood mechanic.
