About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little boy walking home from school noticed something odd outside Certified Auto Repair. His dog kept sniffing and staring at an old tire that had been there for weeks, but today it seemed different—almost glowing in the sunlight. The boy leaned closer and saw that the tire was covered with tiny dewdrops, sparkling like miniature diamonds. Suddenly, his dog gave a yelp and ran inside, dragging the boy along. They found the mechanic, Mr. Jenkins, humming to himself as he worked on another car.
‘What’s got your tail wagging today?’ asked Mr. Jenkins, wiping grease off his hands.
‘Look!’ said the boy, pointing at the now-dry tire. ‘It wasn’t glowing after all.’
Mr. Jenkins laughed and ruffled the boy’s hair. ‘Just early-morning magic,’ he chuckled. 'Don’t believe everything you see.'
2. A delivery driver pulled up to Certified Auto Repair one afternoon and called out, ‘Hey, anyone seen my package?’ The mechanic looked up from under the hood and replied, ‘It’s not here yet.’ Just then, an old guy walked in and asked, ‘Did you guys see my dog? He ran in here a minute ago.’ The mechanic shook his head and said, ‘Nope, he ain’t here.’
3. A neighbor once asked curiously: ‘Why does that old sign at Certified Auto Repair always seem to be waving?’ It turned out that a local kid had rigged up some fishing line and weights to make it look like the sign was moving in the wind—even on still days. The whole neighborhood got a good laugh out of it, and now everyone waves back whenever they see him driving by.
4. One day, while waiting for his car to be fixed, a regular heard an unusual announcement over the shop’s intercom: 'Ladies and gentlemen, your mechanic has just discovered how to make cars run on moonbeams!' Everyone in the shop went silent for a moment, then burst into laughter. The mechanic shrugged and said, ‘Well, it was worth a try!’ A few days later, the same regular returned with a smile: “Hey, my car runs even better than before!”
