About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when most mechanics were just brewing coffee, an old pickup truck pulled into Garcia Filter & Cleaning. The engine sputtered like it had seen better days, but its owner, a gruff-looking regular named Joe, always arrived before sunrise. This morning, though, he wasn’t alone—an enormous golden retriever sat in the passenger seat, watching intently as Joe handed over the keys. The mechanic, Ruben, scratched his head, puzzled by the dog’s presence. ‘Hey,’ he said finally, addressing the canine, ‘you must be here for some special treatment?’ The dog wagged its tail and licked Joe’s hand. Ruben shrugged and got to work, muttering under his breath that sometimes customers brought their pets, sometimes they didn’t.’
2. In the early morning, before anyone else arrived, a delivery driver left a mysterious package on the garage floor. No note, no clue who it belonged to. The curious mechanics poked around but found nothing unusual inside. Over the next few days, every time someone opened the package, they discovered something different—a spare tire, an old coffee cup, even a bag of donuts. Soon enough, the whole neighborhood stopped by to drop off random items in the box. By lunchtime, Garcia’s garage had become the town’s impromptu community center.
3. One day, while waiting for his car to be serviced, a regular asked the mechanic: ‘Why do you always greet that delivery driver with such a smile?’ The mechanic shrugged and replied, ‘He’s the only one who ever says hello back.’ A few days later, the same regular noticed an old neighbor coming in for some work. He nudged the mechanic and whispered, ‘Hey, isn’t that Mrs. Johnson from down the street?’ The mechanic looked up and said, ‘Yep, she waves every time.’
4. In the dead of night, when only stars could see the empty streets, a delivery driver parked his van outside Garcia Filter & Cleaning. With a suspicious box in hand, he tiptoed towards the workshop door. He furtively opened the door and found an old man humming softly under a neon light. ‘Just checking filters,’ grinned Garcia, not even looking up from his work. The delivery driver relaxed, leaving the box with a shrug. As he left, Garcia called after him, ‘And don’t forget to check your engine oil tomorrow!’
