About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when most barbershops were quiet, an old motorcycle roared into South Hills Barber Shop's parking lot. A regular, Mr. Jenkins, looked up from his newspaper and smiled. 'Finally,' he muttered. ‘The morning delivery guy’s bike is here again.' But today, something was different—no package appeared, just the driver waving cheerfully. ‘Hey, Mr. Jenkins,’ the driver called out, tossing a small package towards him. ‘Forgot to deliver this yesterday!’ The old man caught it with a laugh, shaking his head. ‘You’re always in such a hurry, boy.’ As the motorcycle sped off, another customer walked in, muttering, “Same ol’ same ol’, but I guess that’s why I keep coming back.”
2. At closing time, when the last customer had left, a small dog nervously approached the shop door. It sniffed around the entrance and suddenly yelped as if startled by something inside. The dog paused for a moment, then darted inside the dimly lit barbershop. Startled, an old man behind the counter asked, 'What in tarnation are you doing here?' The little fellow ran straight to the mirror, barked once, and promptly sat down on the empty chair next to it. Turns out, he was just waiting for his trim.
3. One morning, while the barber was sharpening his scissors, a deep voice boomed from behind: ‘Hey, sonny, you got any of that famous South Hills shave?’ The barber turned around and saw an old man with a wide-brimmed hat, holding a weathered fishing rod. The barber smiled and replied, 'Why, sure do, mister!' He grabbed his trusty straight razor and began the ritualistic routine. As the old man settled into the chair, another customer—a gruff-looking delivery driver—asked curiously, 'You here every day, Mr. Hat?' The old man chuckled softly, 'Nope, just passing through, but I'll be back.' And indeed, he did return, becoming one of the shop’s most loyal customers.
4. At lunchtime, when the shop was emptying out, a familiar voice called from outside: ‘Hey, Joe, where’s that secret ingredient for perfect haircuts?’ Joe smiled and leaned over the counter, whispering conspiratorially, 'Oh, that’s just my special blend of old whiskey and barbershop gossip.' A delivery driver chuckled and nodded knowingly as he left, already planning his next visit.
