About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers were settling in for their coffee and doughnuts, an unfamiliar voice crackled over the Cary Bank & Trust’s intercom. ‘Ladies and gentlemen,’ it said, ‘we’ve just received word that our vault is now open twenty-four hours.’ A regular customer, Mr. Jenkins, leaned towards his friend and whispered, 'I bet they forgot to lock the front door too!' Sure enough, a delivery driver walked right in without anyone noticing. The whole bank erupted into laughter when he sheepishly asked, 'Is this where I leave the packages?'
2. One day, while counting the afternoon deposits, the teller whispered to herself, 'I thought I heard someone say “Cary Bank & Trust” backwards.' The next day, another employee swore they saw a shadowy figure slipping out of the vault. Finally, an anonymous note appeared in the staff kitchen: "Cary Bank & Trust — trust no one!" Turned out it was just a prank from a regular who loved riddles.
3. At dawn, when most banks are quiet, a delivery truck pulled up to Cary Bank & Trust. The driver, adjusting his cap, muttered something under his breath as he unlocked the heavy metal door. Inside was an old neighbor, wheeling in a cart full of groceries. ‘Morning, Mr. Jones!’ exclaimed the startled teller. ‘I thought you worked nights,’ chuckled the delivery driver. ‘Well, I do,’ replied Mr. Jones with a twinkle in his eye, ‘just not at the bank.’
4. At midnight, when the city slept, a mysterious van pulled up outside Cary Bank & Trust. The guard yawned and stretched, thinking it must be another late-night deposit. But as he approached, the van’s door swung open, revealing not money bags but boxes of donuts. The guard laughed and shook his head, taking one of the fresh glazed donuts. ‘Somebody sure knows how to make a late-night visit fun,’ he muttered, tucking into the sweet treat. As he walked back inside, he noticed an anonymous note on the door: “Next time, bring your own coffee.”
