About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little girl ran into her grandfather’s arms, pointing excitedly at something on the sidewalk outside First Citizens Bank. ‘Grandpa,’ she said breathlessly, ‘the bank is talking!’ Her grandfather looked down and saw nothing but an old man in a suit, waving his hands animatedly as he spoke into thin air. The grandfather smiled gently and knelt down. 'Honey,' he whispered, 'that's just Mr. Jenkins, our friendly neighborhood banker. He talks to everyone—even when no one's listening.' The little girl giggled, then turned back towards the bank. 'But Grandpa,' she asked curiously, 'why does he always wave like that?'
2. One day, an elderly gentleman entered First Citizens Bank and approached the teller with a curious expression. ‘Excuse me,’ he said, ‘can you please explain why every Tuesday at exactly 3 PM, the ceiling fan starts spinning backwards?’ The teller smiled warmly and replied, 'Well sir, that's because our janitor has a thing for puzzles. Every Tuesday at 3 PM, he challenges himself to see if he can reverse the fan's rotation.' The old man nodded thoughtfully, then asked with a twinkle in his eye, 'And does he ever succeed?' With a laugh, the teller answered, 'Nevertheless, he's always trying!'
3. A small dog trotted into the bank one afternoon, stopping abruptly at the counter. The teller looked down curiously as the animal sniffed around, then suddenly sat up and started barking insistently at a pile of old envelopes. The teller smiled and picked up an envelope, showing it to the dog. After a moment's hesitation, the little pooch wagged its tail and ran out through the door. Everyone laughed as the bank manager shook his head, saying, 'I guess today’s audit is in good hands!'
4. In the dead of night, a delivery driver pulled up to First Citizens Bank, puzzled by the soft glow coming from inside. Curious, he cracked open the door—only to find an old man in a tweed suit counting coins with a smile on his face. ‘Good evening,’ said the man without looking up. ‘Just making sure everything’s safe and sound.’ The delivery driver blinked, then laughed. ‘You’re pretty quiet for robbing a bank!’ The old man chuckled back, waving him off. ‘Nope, just First Citizens’ oldest customer. They never close their doors.’
