About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver asked curiously: ‘Has anyone else noticed how the mailboxes here seem to know when packages are coming?’ A few days later, an old neighbor stopped by and said with a twinkle in his eye, 'I’ve been meaning to tell you—those mailboxes are actually run by a secret team of retired postal workers who love their job that much!' Everyone laughed, realizing it was just another Broadview legend, but the story still made for great watercooler talk.
2. One day, while sorting through the outgoing letters, a postal worker found an old, dusty envelope addressed to ‘The Next Person Who Opens This.’ Curious, she opened it and read aloud: ‘If you see this, return it to sender immediately—you’re not supposed to be here!’ She quickly closed it and looked around nervously. Suddenly, another letter fell from above—a note from the ceiling! It said, 'Dear Worker, you're supposed to deliver mail, not open it!' Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it was just an old practical joke. From then on, whenever someone saw her opening envelopes, they’d yell, 'Broadview Post Office—no peeking inside!'
3. One morning, as usual announcements blared over the PA system, the Broadview Post Office manager paused for a moment and declared: 'Ladies and gentlemen, please be advised that due to a recent influx of packages addressed to Russia, our international mail service has been temporarily renamed to "Express Delivery to Friendly Neighbors Only".' A few days later, an elderly neighbor popped into the post office with a small package. She asked the confused clerk, ‘Is this still Express Delivery to Friendly Neighbors Only?’ The clerk smiled and replied, ‘Yes ma’am, but could you please sign here? It’s for Moscow.’
4. One afternoon, a neighbor dropped off some packages and casually mentioned that he’d seen strange lights flickering inside one of the mailboxes. The next day, another neighbor came in asking if anyone had received any unusual letters. It turned out the strange lights were just reflections from an old postcard stuck sideways in a mailbox. The whole town got a good laugh—especially when the delivery driver admitted he was the one who accidentally posted it backwards earlier that morning.
