About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when Cali Auto Glass closed its doors, a soft humming sound would occasionally drift through the neighborhood. A neighbor first noticed it while watering their garden, puzzled and intrigued. Curious, the neighbor followed the sound one evening and found an old radio left on inside. Turns out, every night someone from the shop forgot to turn off their favorite station. The next morning, everyone had a good laugh over breakfast—except maybe that person who missed their favorite show.
2. At dawn, when most mechanics were just brewing their first cup of coffee, an old pickup truck pulled into Cali Auto Glass. Its owner, a gruff-looking man in a ball cap, asked for something unusual—an extra-wide windshield wiper blade. The mechanic raised an eyebrow but nodded and fetched a massive blade from the backroom. As he installed it, the old man explained that his wife liked to grow tall sunflowers in their garden, and they kept hitting her windshield. The whole garage burst out laughing, including the delivery driver who’d been waiting outside. That day, Cali Auto Glass earned itself a new nickname: ‘Home of Extra-Wide Smiles’.
3. At midnight, while a delivery driver was passing by Cali Auto Glass, he heard a voice whispering from inside: ‘Need some help with that windshield?’ Curious, the driver peeked through the window and saw an old man in overalls, polishing a windshield with a toothbrush. ‘Hey,’ said the driver, ‘you’re doing it wrong!’ The man looked up, grinned, and replied, ‘Sonny, I’ve been fixing these since before you were born—trust me, I know what I’m doin’.’
4. At closing time, a regular shouted out the door: ‘Hey, glass guys—you ever notice how your sign keeps winking at us?’ One of the neighbors overheard and poked his head in through the open door. ‘That’s no ordinary sign,’ he said with a twinkle. ‘It’s just trying to catch our attention so you’ll stay open later!’ Everyone laughed, realizing that maybe Cali Auto Glass wasn’t as impersonal as they thought.
