About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, while a delivery driver was unloading boxes in the alley behind Waverly Barber & Hair Salon, he heard an odd humming sound coming from inside the building. It wasn’t like any music or machinery he’d ever encountered before. Curious, he peered through the window and saw an old man with a strange comb, humming softly as he worked on someone’s hairdo. The driver knocked gently, and when the door opened, the barber smiled warmly and invited him in for a cup of tea. Turns out, it was just an ancient ritual to bless new arrivals—nothing unusual after all.
2. While cutting hair one afternoon, the barber heard a voice from outside: ‘Hey, you got any clippers that can handle a lion’s mane?’ The barber looked puzzled but then smiled and replied, 'Sure do!' He went outside to see a large lion standing there with an impatient expression. The lion sat down in the chair, and soon enough, the barber was trimming fur instead of hair. When he finished, both chuckled, and the lion left wagging its tail. From then on, whenever someone asked about his unusual clients, the barber would proudly say, 'Oh yeah, I once cut hair for a big cat.'
3. At dawn, when most salons are quiet, an old man arrived at Waverly Barber & Hair Salon with a mysterious package under his arm. He whispered something about a special customer and disappeared into the back room. Suddenly, the door opened again, and out stepped a sleepy-haired young man who yawned and stretched. ‘Morning, Mr. Jenkins,’ said the barber. The old man nodded, handed him the package, and whispered, ‘Just like always.’ The young man grinned and replied, ‘And just like always, I’ll deliver it!’
4. At closing time, as the last customer left Waverly Barber, the doorbell chimed again. The barber peered through the window and saw nobody there. The barber shrugged, unlocked the door, and stepped outside into the empty street. Suddenly, a voice called from behind him: ‘Hey, you forgot my hat!’ Turning around, he found an old fedora perched on the counter. ‘Must’ve been blown in,’ said a delivery driver, emerging from the shadows with a smile.
