About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up outside Kanai Hairstyling and asked curiously: ‘Why is that old lady always sitting on your steps with her dog?’ The hairstylist smiled and explained, 'Oh, she's just our regular customer, Mrs. Tanaka. She comes every Tuesday for her special hairdo.' The delivery man nodded, then added with a laugh, 'I guess her dog, Mr. Whiskers, likes waiting too!'
2. At dawn, when most barbershops were still closed, an old man walked into Kanai Hairstyling. The stylist looked up from his newspaper, surprised: 'Sir, you're here awfully early.' The man smiled mysteriously and replied, 'I’ve been waiting for just such an occasion.' The stylist shrugged and said, ‘Very well then.’ He picked up his clippers with a smile, and before long, the old man emerged with a perfect quiff—just like in the movies. As he left, the man turned around and whispered, ‘Thanks for cutting my hair exactly twenty years late.’ Everyone burst out laughing, including the perplexed stylist who realized it was his neighbor’s annual April Fool’s prank.
3. At sunset, when Kanai Hairstyling usually quietened down, a strange figure appeared in the window. It was a squirrel, its fur perfectly styled as if by a master hand, sitting proudly on a chair. The squirrel twitched its nose and seemed to nod approvingly at its reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, the door opened gently, and an old lady with a basket of nuts walked in. She smiled warmly and said, ‘I’ll take him home for grooming services.’ The squirrel gave her a little bow before scurrying off, leaving behind a satisfied smile on everyone’s face.
4. At closing time, as Kanai Hairstyling’s last customer left, a voice called out from the empty chair: ‘Next time I’ll definitely get that perfect fade.’ The door clicked shut behind the last customer, but the voice persisted: ‘And don’t forget my special request—make it just a little bit lower on the sides.’ A delivery driver shrugged and said, ‘Same thing he says every week,’ then laughed as he walked away.
