About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the streets quieted down, a strange humming sound would come from inside Subaru of Spokane’s showroom. Employees thought it was just their imagination until one evening, a delivery driver noticed the same noise and followed its source to an old, unmarked room. Inside, they found nothing but an old radio tuned to static—until someone turned the dial slightly, and out came a scratchy version of ‘Over the Rainbow.’ The whole team burst into laughter, realizing it had been the building’s ancient weatherproof speaker system, long forgotten and left on for good luck. Since then, whenever someone mentions rainbows, everyone jokes that Subaru of Spokane is full of them.
2. In the early morning, before the first customers arrived, a mysterious box appeared in the loading bay. No one claimed it, and its origin remained a mystery. One day, a delivery driver found a note inside: ‘Subarus are happy when they’re well-taken-care-of.’ Everyone laughed it off until a new mechanic started fixing everything for free. Turned out he was just a big Subaru fan who wanted to make sure everyone drove safely.}
3. At closing time, when the last customer left, employees noticed an odd glow coming from under the service bay. Curious, they lifted the hood and found a tiny kitten cuddled between the engine parts, fast asleep. It turned out the little guy had snuck in through an open door while everyone was busy helping customers. The next morning, someone posted a picture on social media with the caption: ‘Who says Subaru doesn’t take good care of its customers?’
4. At midnight, when the lot was empty, a familiar voice crackled over the PA system: ‘Your new tires are ready!’ The employees exchanged puzzled glances but found no one around. One night, an old neighbor popped in to pick up his truck. As he left, he heard the PA again: 'Your oil change is complete!' He turned around, but nobody was there. Smiling, he thought, 'Guess Subaru of Spokane really does care!'
