About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers were settling into their seats, an old poster on the wall caught everyone’s eye. It read: ‘Today’s special: haircut + lucky charm.’ No one knew what it meant until a regular walked in with a tiny wooden rabbit in his pocket. The barber looked puzzled but smiled and said, 'I’ve never seen that charm before, but I’ll give you the special.' The man left, and soon other customers arrived with similar charms—a toy frog, a plastic dinosaur, even a miniature teddy bear. By lunchtime, every customer had a lucky charm attached to their haircut ticket. Word spread quickly, and soon Los Angeles Avenue Barbershop became famous for its daily lucky charm promotions.
2. One day, while a regular was getting his weekly trim, the barber announced over the intercom: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, please be advised that our new vacuum cleaner is so powerful it can clean your shoes from across the room!’ Suddenly, an old delivery driver raised his hand and said, ‘That’s not true!’ The barber smiled and replied, ‘Sir, you’re just proving my point—your hat is now spotless.’ Everyone burst out laughing, including the poor guy whose hat had been mysteriously cleaned mid-sentence.
3. One afternoon, as a delivery driver was waiting for his turn in line, he noticed something odd on the wall above the cash register. Curious, he peered closer and saw an old photograph of a mustached barber holding a vintage comb. Smiling, he asked the owner who it was.
‘That’s my great-grandfather,’ replied the barber with pride. ‘He opened these doors over ninety years ago.’
The delivery driver laughed, saying, “Next time I’ll just wait here longer—maybe catch a glimpse of history!”
4. One evening, after closing hours, a little dog wandered into the empty barbershop. It sniffed around curiously until it found itself sitting in one of the customer chairs. Suddenly, an old man appeared from behind the counter with a big smile on his face. ‘Finally!’ he said, patting the chair next to him. A regular customer walked in and asked, “What’s going on?” The owner replied, “This little guy has been waiting for you.” The dog obediently jumped onto the other chair, clearly relieved, as if knowing exactly where he belonged.
