About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular noticed something peculiar in Central Co-op’s produce section—a mysterious banana with an extra-long stem and three times its usual size. No one could explain it. Soon enough, word spread around town, and soon people from all over flocked to see the giant banana. The store started calling it ‘Banana Bob,’ and before long, everyone was talking about his enormous sibling rivalry with ordinary bananas. One day, a delivery driver joked that if Banana Bob ever got tired of being the center of attention, he could always move to another aisle—whereupon a neighbor quipped, ‘Or maybe he just needs some space to grow!’
2. In the late afternoon, a delivery driver pulled up to Central Co-op's loading dock. As he unloaded boxes of apples, an odd sound caught his ear—a soft, rhythmic tapping coming from inside one crate. Curious, he opened the crate carefully and found nothing but a few apples—and a tiny cricket chirping merrily away. The driver smiled, shook his head, and went on with his day, muttering something about how even supermarkets had their own symphonies.
3. One day at Central Co-op, an aisle suddenly echoed with giggles. A small child pointed excitedly at a shelf of cereal boxes, each one sporting a tiny, mischievous smile. A nearby shopper turned around, only to see an elderly neighbor smiling knowingly. ‘Oh, those little faces,’ she said. ‘They’ve been doing that ever since they restocked last week.’ Everyone laughed, and for a moment, the usually quiet grocery aisle felt like a cozy village gathering.
4. At Central Co-op, a regular was checking out when he overheard someone whispering behind him: ‘Did you see that milk carton move?’ The man turned around sharply, only to find an old delivery driver grinning sheepishly and holding up a slightly shaken milk carton. 'Just helping it get home safely,' chuckled the driver. The regular laughed, shook his head, and whispered back, ‘Next time, knock first!’
