About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver noticed something strange: every time he arrived at Macey's, an old shopping cart mysteriously appeared in front of his truck, blocking the entrance. Nobody claimed responsibility. Finally, one day, a friendly neighborhood shopper asked if she could help move the cart. Turned out it was hers—she’d accidentally left it there years ago and had been coming back daily to retrieve it ever since. Ever since then, whenever anyone sees that cart, they smile, knowing it’s just Mrs. Johnson being her usual forgetful self.
2. One day, an elderly gentleman entered Macey's with a shopping cart full of groceries. As he approached the checkout counter, the loudspeaker crackled to life: 'Attention, please! This gentleman has already paid for everything.' The cashier smiled and said, ‘Sir, you must be a frequent shopper here.’ The old man laughed heartily and replied, ‘Just lucky today!’ As he walked out, a delivery driver overheard him muttering under his breath, ‘Next time I’ll pay in advance… just to be sure!’
3. One afternoon, a little boy followed his mom into Macey's. Suddenly, he pointed and giggled, ‘Mom, look! The apples are dancing!’ His mother smiled and gently shook her head, but as she reached for an apple, one really did roll away! Startled, she looked around, only to see several others following suit—all moving in time to some unheard melody. A nearby delivery driver chuckled, ‘Must be those new imported Fujis.’
4. At night, when Macey's closed its doors, a soft humming started coming from inside the empty aisles. Employees passing by swore it sounded like someone singing 'Happy Birthday' in perfect pitch. One day, an old delivery driver heard the song and thought, ‘I know that voice!’ Following the sound, he found himself face-to-face with a talking box of cereal, who sang even more beautifully than before. From then on, whenever anyone asked where the singing came from, they’d say, ‘It’s just Macey’s talking breakfasts.’
