About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Stuart’s Paint & Body and said, ‘Hey, I think your sign is pointing in the wrong direction!’ The owner looked around but saw nothing amiss. Then he noticed everyone else staring at him too—his reflection in the freshly painted hood of a car made it look like the sign was misaligned. Finally, another customer pointed out that the sun was shining directly on the car, creating an optical illusion. Stuart laughed it off, saying, ‘Well, looks like our sign knows when to point itself.’ Everyone had a good laugh, and the delivery driver left with his head held high.
2. One foggy morning, when most mechanics were still stretching their arms, an old pickup truck drove into Stuart’s Paint & Body. The mechanic looked puzzled as he noticed the license plate read ‘No Signal.’ ‘What seems to be the trouble?’ asked Stuart, squinting at the empty dashboard.
‘Just fill it up with gas,’ said a gruff voice from behind. A delivery driver emerged, scratching his head. ‘It always works.’
And indeed, once the tank was topped off, the truck purred like new and the mysterious license plate lit up with ‘Signal Received’.
3. One foggy morning, when most mechanics were still stretching their arms, an old pickup pulled into Stuart’s Paint & Body. The mechanic glanced up from his coffee just long enough to see a note taped to the windshield: ‘Ask for Stuart if you want your car painted like lightning.’ The mechanic shrugged and called out, ‘Stuart? Who the heck is Stuart around here?’ A gruff voice answered from inside: ‘I’m Stuart, come get my truck!’ Turned out Stuart was the old neighbor who’d retired years ago but never stopped fixing cars in his driveway. He walked over with a smile, saying, ‘Just wanted it to match my house.’
4. One rainy night, as Stuart locked up for the day, he heard a voice from above: ‘You missed one spot on my bumper.’ Stuart looked up and saw an old man with a paintbrush in his hand standing on the roof of the adjacent building. 'Oh no,' thought Stuart, 'not another senior citizen trying to teach me how to paint bumpers!' But sure enough, there was a small streak of red on the bumper that Stuart had overlooked. With a smile, Stuart thanked him and said, 'Guess I better get back to work.' The old man waved goodbye and disappeared into the rain.
