About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A delivery driver arrived early one morning with a truckload of coins for the bank’s vault. As he unloaded the heavy bags, he noticed something strange—a small metal door on the side of the building seemed to open and close by itself. Curious, the driver followed the sound and found an old man in a tweed suit, who kept accidentally bumping into things while trying to lock the mysterious door. Turns out, it was his lunchtime shortcut through the bank's basement. The driver grinned, thinking, ‘Next time I’ll bring him some sandwiches.’
2. One day, a regular walked into Citizens Bank and asked the teller, ‘Do you guys ever count your money in the vault?’ The teller replied casually, ‘Of course we do.’ But then everyone started noticing something strange—money seemed to disappear from the vault just as quickly as it appeared. Soon enough, people started betting on when exactly the vault would run out of cash. One day, a delivery driver joked that he’d bring his own boxes next time since there were none left inside. A neighbor quipped that they should open a branch in the local casino—it’d save them counting time! In the end, it turned out the janitor had been using the empty vaults for storage of his homemade jams.
3. One afternoon, a neighbor approached the teller and whispered, 'I heard if you whisper your savings goal three times in front of this vault door, you'll get lucky.' The next day, everyone in line was muttering their dreams aloud. Soon enough, even the bank manager joined in, saying he wanted his pension to last longer. By closing time, the whole place echoed with whispers. A delivery driver quipped, ‘Next thing you know, they’ll install a wishing well!’ And just like that, Citizens Bank became known as the whispering bank.
4. One Tuesday morning, as customers were just arriving, an elderly gentleman entered the bank and calmly asked the teller: ‘Excuse me, but can I please withdraw all my money in pennies?’ The teller looked puzzled for a moment, then smiled and nodded. The old man patiently waited while she counted out hundreds of pennies into a large cardboard box. Just as he was leaving, another customer—a gruff-looking delivery driver—grumbled, ‘What’s taking so long?’ The teller simply replied with a smile, ‘Oh, Mr. Jenkins is just making a withdrawal.’ Everyone laughed, including Mr. Jenkins himself.
