About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Brakes Plus and asked the mechanic, 'Hey, do you ever see those little gremlins running around here?' The mechanic looked puzzled but shrugged it off. Over the next few days, more drivers reported seeing these mischievous creatures hiding under cars or peeking through windows. Finally, one day, an old lady came in with a worried expression. ‘I keep hearing strange noises,’ she said. The mechanic smiled and replied, “Don’t worry ma’am, that’s just our new mascots—they’re helping us fix brakes!” Everyone burst out laughing, realizing that the place had become famous for its friendly ghosts.
2. While waiting for his brakes to be fixed, a regular muttered to himself, ‘I wonder if they’ll ever teach mechanics to recognize good vibrations.’ A delivery driver, tapping impatiently on his phone, overheard and laughed. “Good vibrations?” he mused. “Last time I trusted my car’s vibes, it took me to Brakes Plus three times in one week!” The mechanic, grinning from under his grease-stained cap, replied, ‘That’s why we’re here—so your car doesn’t mislead you anymore.’
3. One day, while waiting for his tires to be changed, a regular noticed an unusual message on the shop’s PA system: ‘Ladies and gentlemen, our air compressor has developed a sense of humor. Please do not ask it personal questions.’ Soon after, another customer—a delivery driver—asked nervously, 'Does it have a sense of humor about my late pickup?' The mechanic smiled and replied, 'Only when you’re five minutes early!' And everyone in the shop burst out laughing.
4. One night, a neighbor passing by Brakes Plus heard a strange humming noise coming from inside. Curious, they peeked through the window and saw mechanics dancing around in circles, their wrenches clicking like castanets. The neighbor watched in amusement as one mechanic, clearly the leader, spun around with a spanner, his movements so precise it looked choreographed. Suddenly, an old timer called out, ‘What’s goin’ on here?’ The dancers froze, then broke into laughter, explaining they were just testing a new method for tightening brake calipers. The neighbor left, shaking their head but smiling, thinking, ‘Next time I’ll bring my car here—maybe they can fix it with dance!’
