About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dusk, when California Coast Credit Union’s doors were closing for the day, an elderly gentleman would often appear, asking for just one more minute inside. Employees noticed he never took anything but always left with a smile. One day, as the guard was about to lock up, the old man asked if he could use the restroom. The guard nodded, and after a few minutes, emerged a young employee, grinning sheepishly. ‘He insisted on helping me with my password,’ she whispered. Everyone laughed, realizing that every time the old man came in, it was actually someone new trying to remember their own PIN!'
2. At closing time one night, a delivery driver asked the guard, ‘Why does it always get so quiet right after you lock those doors?’ The guard shrugged and replied, ‘Well, sir, when we close, all our members go home to their families.’ The delivery driver nodded knowingly, smiling, as he thought of his own wife waiting for him across town.
3. At closing time one night, a delivery driver asked the guard, 'Why does it always feel like there's someone watching us from inside?' The guard shrugged and replied, 'Probably just our new security camera.' But everyone knew that something else had taken up residence in those empty hallways after hours. Suddenly, the delivery driver heard a soft chuckle behind him. Turning around, he saw only an old poster of California coastline. Shaking his head, he muttered, ‘Must be the wind playing tricks.’ As he left, he waved goodbye to the guard, who smiled and said, ‘See you tomorrow—if not sooner!’
4. At closing time one night, a delivery driver asked the guard, "Do you ever hear whispers in here after hours?" The guard shrugged and replied, "Only when I forget my headphones." But then they both paused, realizing something was indeed whispering softly from inside. Then, out of nowhere, came a faint voice: ‘Hey, can you help me find my umbrella?’ They looked around and saw only empty corridors. Shaking their heads with a smile, the guard said, ‘Guess it’s just another California breeze.’
