About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. A delivery driver pulled up to Oakland Pharmacy one morning with a package marked ‘Fragile.’ As he walked in, he noticed an old man carefully counting pills behind the counter. The old man looked up and asked, ‘What’s so fragile?’ The delivery driver stammered, trying not to laugh, as he replied, ‘Um, just some medicine for a regular customer.’ The pharmacist nodded knowingly and said, ‘Ah, yes—Mr. Johnson always gets special handling.’ They both burst out laughing, realizing it was yet another day at Oakland Pharmacy.
2. One day, an elderly gentleman entered Oakland Pharmacy and asked for aspirin. The pharmacist replied, 'Sir, you’re here every Tuesday asking for aspirin.' To which the man calmly answered, 'Yes, but today I feel like taking two!' The pharmacist smiled and said, ‘Very well, sir, help yourself!’ A few minutes later, a young delivery driver approached the counter, complaining about his headache. The pharmacist shook his head and quipped, ‘Another one bites the dust.’
3. A neighborhood kid stopped by Oakland Pharmacy after school, asking if they had any penny candies left. The friendly pharmacist always kept some in stock, but today something seemed different—there were no customers around, yet the door was wide open. The pharmacist smiled and said, ‘We just sold our last penny candy an hour ago.’ The boy looked disappointed until he noticed a jar filled with brightly colored gumballs on the counter. ‘These are only five cents each,’ the pharmacist added with a twinkle in his eye. The kid happily paid for two handfuls of gumballs, never realizing that the whole thing was just an excuse for the old man to give away his favorite treat.
4. A little girl walked into Oakland Pharmacy holding her pet hamster in its cage. As she approached the counter, the hamster started sniffing curiously at the shelves of medicine. All of a sudden, the hamster stopped and pointed its tiny nose towards a bottle labeled ‘Calming Elixir for Pets’. It began nudging the bottle with its paw, as if trying to communicate something. The pharmacist smiled and picked up the bottle, saying, 'Looks like someone here needs some rest!' The little girl giggled, and they both watched as the hamster scurried back to her arms.
