A few stories people tell about this place
1. Late one night, an accountant frantically worked overtime in Lewis, Smith, & Associates' dimly lit office. Suddenly, he heard a soft humming coming from behind him—only to turn around and see no one there. The humming grew louder, almost like a melody. Curious, our accountant leaned back in his chair, only to realize it was the sound of a delivery driver whistling outside. With a laugh, he returned to his work, thinking how strange it is when your mind plays tricks on you late at night.
2. Late one night, a delivery driver pulled up to the loading dock of Lewis, Smith, & Associates, P.C., only to notice a sign taped to the door: ‘Please leave your honesty here.’ The delivery driver shrugged and left his honest efforts inside before driving off. Later that evening, an old neighbor popped in for some accounting advice. As she walked out, she absent-mindedly took the note with her, thinking it was a coupon for a free audit. The next day, everyone got a good laugh when they saw her trying to redeem it at the grocery store.
3. Late one night, as a delivery driver unloaded boxes into Lewis, Smith, & Associates’ dimly lit lobby, he overheard someone whispering, ‘I’m telling you, if you leave that window open just five more minutes, it’ll balance itself.’ Curious, the driver peeked around the corner and saw an old accountant with a calculator in his hand, humming softly to himself. The man glanced up, smiled, and said, 'See? It’s done now.' With that, he closed the window, straightened his tie, and went back to work, leaving the driver scratching his head and laughing gently.
4. Late one night, as a delivery driver unloaded boxes into Lewis, Smith, & Associates’ office building, he swore he heard faint laughter coming from the empty accounting suite. Curious, he peered inside and saw nothing but rows of desks and computers. Then, out of the corner of his eye, he thought he glimpsed a shadow moving between the screens. Startled, he called out, ‘Hello? Is anyone there?’ Only the hum of the air conditioning answered him. The next morning, everyone in the office found a friendly note on their desk: “Don’t worry, I’m just an Excel spreadsheet doing some late-night calculations.”
