He tried to adjust the volume, but it only made the songs go faster or slower. Desperate, he asked a delivery driver next to him if he heard anything strange. The driver shrugged and said, ‘Nope, everything sounds normal to me.’ Relieved, our regular went back to reading his magazine—and promptly missed his own name on the front page.

2. While waiting for his car’s inspection, an old regular named Joe couldn't help but notice something strange. The mechanic's dog kept staring intently at him through the window, its eyes never blinking. ‘Hey,’ Joe said aloud, ‘do you think he knows my car better than I do?’ The mechanic looked up from under the hood and smiled. 'Oh, that old mutt,' he chuckled. 'He just likes your hat, Joe.' And indeed, it was a rather unusual fedora with a bright orange feather. Joe scratched his head, embarrassed yet amused.
