About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular asked the cashier, ‘Why do all the bananas here look like they’re smiling?’ The cashier smiled and replied, ‘Because these are bananas from Hawaii, where everyone’s always in such good mood!’ A delivery driver overheard and chimed in, ‘Or maybe,’ he said, scratching his head, ‘they just found out that this co-op doesn’t sell sour grapes.’ The whole place burst into laughter, and the regular nodded knowingly, happy with his morning mystery solved.
2. In the produce section one day, a regular noticed something peculiar—a watermelon with eyes drawn on it in marker. Curious, he picked up the melon and asked the cashier, who just shrugged and said, ‘Oh, that’s from our local artist. He does these every week.’ The next day, the same man saw an eggplant wearing a paper hat and holding a pencil—clearly signed by the same hand. Soon enough, everyone knew the store was home to a secretive but charming artist, and customers started coming for more than just groceries.
3. In the dairy aisle one afternoon, a little girl pointed excitedly and whispered to her mother, 'Mama, why does that milk bottle have a smiley face drawn on it?' The mother smiled and explained, ‘That’s because, honey, these are our friends’ cows, and they’re happy when we buy their milk.’ The little girl nodded thoughtfully before turning back to the bottle with a twinkle in her eye. That night, over dinner, she proudly announced to her family, ‘I know why those farmers always wave at us!’
4. In the produce section one day, a regular watched in amazement as an apple started rolling down the aisle on its own. Suddenly, another apple joined the first one, and before anyone could react, they were rolling together like some fruit-powered dance party. A delivery driver tried to help but ended up tripping over his own feet and falling into a pile of oranges. The whole store burst out laughing, and from that day on, whenever someone mentioned ghost apples, everyone at the co-op knew exactly what they meant.
