About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to Monkey Mike’s and noticed something peculiar on the workshop floor—a vintage coin collection, seemingly left behind in a toolbox. Curious, he picked it up and found that each coin had a strange inscription only visible under certain light. As he inspected closer, he realized these weren’t just any coins—each one was worth a small fortune! Excitedly, he rushed inside to tell Monkey Mike, who upon seeing them exclaimed, ‘Oh no, those are my great-grandpa’s lucky pieces!’ Turns out, they brought him good business for years without anyone noticing.
2. One day, an old neighbor stopped by with his bicycle in hand. As he approached Monkey Mike’s, he noticed the mechanic had hung a strange sign above the door: ‘Today’s Special—Fix Any Bike for Just One Banana!’ A regular customer, a delivery driver named Joe, overheard and decided to test it out. He rode his bike in, handed over one banana, and walked away with his fixed bike moments later. Word spread quickly around town, and soon everyone was bringing their bikes by with just one banana. Even Monkey Mike started growing bananas in his backyard.
3. One night, while closing up shop, Monkey Mike heard an odd humming sound coming from under the hood of one of the cars. He peered inside, curious, but couldn’t quite make out its source. As he leaned closer, a tiny monkey wearing overalls popped his head out and said, 'Hey, boss! Just finishing up your engine!' Monkey Mike laughed so hard he almost dropped his wrench. Turned out it was just little Mikey, his nephew, playing a prank.
4. One foggy morning, as customers shuffled into Monkey Mike’s for their usual coffee, a strange figure appeared outside the window. It was a squirrel, frantically waving its little paws and pointing towards the mechanic’s door. Monkey Mike rushed over, scratching his head in confusion. He opened the door wide, but the squirrel scurried away into the mist. A regular, sipping his coffee, chuckled, saying, ‘Must be that new squirrel who thinks he owns the place.’ The story became part of Monkey Mike’s folklore, and every foggy morning, someone would ask if the furry critter had returned.
