About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At Walgreens on Main Street, a regular customer complained one morning: ‘Why is it so quiet around here lately?’ The pharmacist shrugged and replied, ‘Maybe because everyone’s too busy getting their prescriptions filled.’ Just then, a delivery driver walked in, breathless. ‘Hey,’ he said, ‘I just saw something crazy outside!’ The pharmacist glanced up from his magazine. ‘What was it?’ he asked, not looking away. The driver pointed out the window. ‘A neighbor’s dog is stuck on top of a mailbox, trying to lick a fly that isn’t there.’ Everyone burst into laughter, realizing maybe life wasn’t so bad after all.
2. At Walgreens in downtown Chicago, an elderly gentleman approached the counter and asked with a twinkle in his eye, 'Do you have any special discounts for people who can remember when this store first opened?' The pharmacist smiled and replied, ‘Sir, our records show that we’ve been here since 1932—you must be quite old!’ The man laughed heartily and said, ‘I was born two years later.’ A young delivery driver overheard them and whispered to his colleague, ‘Guess he’s got a lifetime membership now!’
3. At Walgreens near the park, a delivery driver noticed something odd one afternoon. As he parked his truck, he heard over the intercom: 'Attention please—your package has arrived… but unfortunately, so has its twin!' Curious, the driver opened the back and found two identical packages wrapped in exactly the same way. A neighbor passing by laughed, ‘Maybe they’re twins meant for the same person!’ The driver shook his head and called it in, only to hear the dispatcher reply, ‘That’s okay, sir. We’ve got another Walgreens down the street with an extra twin.’
4. At Walgreens by the university campus, a delivery driver parked his truck one day and noticed something unusual. The automatic doors were open wide, but no customers were rushing inside. Curious, he walked in and found only a sleepy pharmacist dozing behind the counter. ‘Did you press that button by accident?’ asked the driver. With a yawn, the pharmacist replied, “Nope, just taking my afternoon nap.” The delivery guy shook his head and muttered, “Next time wake up before opening those doors!”
