About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when most mechanics were just brewing coffee, an old pickup truck pulled up to Pep Boys. The delivery driver, a gruff man with a weathered face, climbed out and asked for the impossible: ‘Fix my engine without touching it.’ Mechanic Joe scratched his head, then grinned mischievously. 'Piece of cake,' he said, rolling up his sleeves. An hour later, the truck started like a charm. Word spread fast, and soon everyone in town was bringing their cars to Pep Boys—without even turning them on.'
2. At closing time, when the last mechanic had already gone home, a delivery driver walked into Pep Boys with a mysterious box under his arm. ‘Just dropped off,’ he said, leaving it on the counter without a word. The next morning, one of the mechanics opened the box and found inside a brand-new coffee maker. ‘Finally!’ someone joked. From then on, every day at five o’clock, a neighbor would deliver freshly brewed coffee to the whole workshop.’
3. One morning, while mechanics were fixing engines and chatting over donuts, a familiar voice crackled over the intercom: ‘Attention, everyone—we’ve got a new policy here at Pep Boys. From now on, if your car honks three times while being serviced, it means “thank you”.’ Soon enough, word spread like wildfire around town. A regular customer drove up with his horn blaring thrice, causing every mechanic to drop what they were doing and rush outside. Turned out he just wanted to know where the restrooms were! Meanwhile, an amused delivery driver honked three times daily as he pulled into the lot, making everyone laugh each time.
4. Late one night, as mechanics were wrapping up their work, a mysterious van pulled into Pep Boys' parking lot. The doors opened silently, revealing only shadows that darted between cars like ghostly mechanics, fixing tires and adjusting brakes with eerie precision. Suddenly, an old man in a tattered hat emerged from the van, waving cheerfully. 'Thanks for your help!' he said, handing each mechanic a warm apple pie. 'Just doing our civic duty,' muttered one mechanic, taking a bite while another grinned, ‘Guess those brake jobs paid off!’
