About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a little boy walked into Mid City Complete Auto Center and pointed excitedly towards the ceiling. ‘Look!’ he said, ‘there’s a bird!’ The mechanics looked up and saw nothing but an empty garage. Yet every day after that, kids from nearby schools would come in claiming they saw the same mysterious bird. Finally, one mechanic decided to investigate. He climbed onto the roof and found…nothing. But then, every afternoon around three o’clock, everyone in the shop heard a familiar voice calling down: 'Hey! Stop pointing at the sky or I’ll never bring my truck here again!'
2. At dawn, when most mechanics were still stretching in their beds, an old pickup truck pulled up to Mid City Complete Auto Center. The headlights cast eerie shadows on the garage doors as the delivery driver fumbled with his keys. The mechanic yawned and stretched, then walked outside. ‘Morning,’ he said groggily. The delivery driver mumbled something incoherent around a mouthful of coffee. As they inspected the truck together, a neighbor’s dog trotted over, sniffing curiously at the engine. Finally, after much grumbling and laughter, the truck was fixed—just in time for breakfast at the diner across the street.
3. At dusk, a delivery driver pulled up to Mid City Complete Auto Center with a frown on his face. As he stepped out of his truck, he noticed something peculiar—an old tire swinging gently from one of the workshop’s ceiling beams. Curious, he approached it and found an old note attached: ‘Take a break, fix yourself.’ The driver smiled, realizing it was just another prank from a neighbor who liked to keep things interesting around here. With a laugh, he untied the swing and took a well-deserved rest before continuing his shift.
4. At midnight, a neighbor drove up to Mid City Complete Auto Center, puzzled by the flickering neon sign. The mechanic on duty scratched his head as he fiddled with the switch. ‘What’s going on here?’ asked the neighbor. Mechanic shrugged and flipped another switch. Suddenly, the sign glowed brightly—only now it read ‘Open 24 Hours!’ ‘Ah,’ said the mechanic, smiling sheepishly. ‘We’ve had that wiring issue since last week.’ A regular walked in, nodded at them both, and remarked, ‘Guess you’re finally fixing it then.’
