A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, an elderly gentleman entered El Sereno Station with his usual package. As he approached the counter, the PA system crackled to life: 'Attention please—your package has been delivered by a friendly ghost named Pedro.' The clerk smiled and said, ‘It’s just our friendly neighborhood ghost, Mr. Pedro.’ The old man chuckled, shook his head, and replied, ‘Well, if that’s who brought it, I guess I’ll take my package!’ And so, every day after that, people came to see the ghostly deliveryman, until eventually, everyone agreed—they missed ol’ Pedro’s cheerful greetings.
2. One day, as a delivery driver approached El Sereno Station, he heard an unexpected announcement over the loudspeaker: ‘Attention all mail carriers—your next assignment is… delivering packages to yourself!’ Confused and amused, the driver delivered several packages only to realize they were all addressed to him. Smiling sheepishly, his neighbor walked by and said, 'Welcome home, Mr. Delivery Man!'
3. A postal worker arrived early one morning, only to discover that someone had left a mysterious box addressed to ‘The Next Person Who Opens This’. Curious, she opened it and found inside an old letter written in pencil: 'Dear Friend, please deliver this package to yourself.' Turns out, it was just a prank from a regular who loved playing tricks on the staff.
4. A little girl walked into El Sereno Station and pointed excitedly at something on the counter. ‘Mama,’ she said, ‘why is there a tiny mailbox for cats?’ The clerk smiled and explained, 'It's not for cats, sweetie—it’s for letters too small for our regular mailboxes!' The little girl giggled and ran off, while her mother shook her head with a smile. A delivery driver overheard and muttered, 'Another day, another mystery solved at El Sereno Station.'
