And so it was—everyday at five sharp, the old man would appear, ask his usual question, and receive a warm smile from everyone inside. The only thing missing? A complimentary cup of coffee.

4. At lunchtime, when Bank of America staff were eating their sandwiches in the breakroom, someone left a note taped to the coffee machine. It read: ‘Today’s free coffee brought to you by the person who will get the next promotion.’ Suddenly, another note appeared: ‘And don’t forget to tip your barista well today!’ A delivery driver walked in and whispered, ‘Guess I’ll be getting that promotion after all.’ Everyone burst out laughing, realizing it was just an ongoing prank.
