About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At dawn, when most mechanics were still stretching their legs, an old pickup truck pulled up to Ochoas’s Tire Service. The engine purred like a contented cat, but the owner, Mr. Ochoas, scratched his head in confusion as he noticed the license plate read ‘TEXAS’. He had never seen that truck before. Just then, a sleepy-eyed delivery driver emerged from behind the wheel and yawned, 'Morning, Mr. Ochoas! Thought I'd drop off these packages.' With a twinkle in his eye, Mr. Ochoas replied, 'You must be lost, son—we only change tires here!'
2. At closing time one night, a delivery driver asked the mechanic: ‘How come your tire shop never closes?’ The next morning, everyone noticed the sign outside now read: Open 24 Hours — Even Sundays!’ The next Sunday, an old neighbor stopped by and joked, 'You must be making a killing!' The mechanic grinned, shrugged, then added, 'Just keeping up with demand, I guess.'
3. At midnight, when the last customer had left and only stars watched over the workshop, a voice crackled over the intercom: 'Attention, Ochoas's Tire Service. Your tire is talking.' A sleepy mechanic rubbed his eyes and approached the intercom. ‘This better be good,’ he muttered. The voice continued, ‘I’m your spare tire, sir. I’ve been sitting here for hours, and my rubber legs are getting restless.’ Everyone in town laughed so hard they almost missed their own deliveries that morning.
4. At closing time one night, a delivery driver approached the grumpy mechanic with a smile. ‘Hey, Joe,’ he said, pointing towards the empty lot next door, ‘you hear that?’ Joe squinted into the darkness and shrugged. ‘Just some kids playing over there.’ The delivery driver laughed and shook his head. ‘Nah, man, they’re building a secret tunnel!’ Joe snorted and went back to tightening bolts, but couldn’t help glancing over every now and then. Turned out, the delivery guy was right—next day, there was a small hole in the fence. A regular sighting for Joe after hours.
