About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up outside Cornhusker Bank and noticed something strange. The security guard was waving him in, but the doors were locked tight. As he looked closer, the delivery driver saw that the security guard was holding a note saying ‘Closed for Annual Maintenance’. With a smile, the driver thought, ‘Must be one of those days when they forgot to tell everyone.’ He parked his truck, walked inside, and found the entire staff playing cards around an old wooden table. When asked why they weren’t at their desks, one of them replied, ‘It’s our annual tradition!’
2. Early one autumn morning, as customers were just arriving at Cornhusker Bank, an elderly gentleman walked into the lobby carrying a large basket filled with corn. He approached the teller smiling broadly, saying only, ‘I’ve come to make a deposit.’ The teller looked perplexed but smiled politely, replying, 'Certainly, sir.' She took his basket and carefully counted each ear of corn, murmuring under her breath, 'This is going to be a long day...' Finally, she announced, 'That’ll be twenty dollars, sir!' The old man nodded happily, picked up his empty basket, and left, whistling a merry tune. From that day on, whenever someone deposited something unusual at Cornhusker Bank, everyone knew it was probably Mr. Jones, who always paid in full.
3. Late one night, a security guard patrolling Cornhusker Bank heard an odd voice over the intercom: ‘Your money is safe here… for now.’ The next day, no trace of the message remained. Curious, the guard asked around, and it turned out that every night at exactly midnight, a regular delivery driver stopped by to drop off a box marked ‘special deposits’. When questioned, the driver just smiled and said, ‘Hey, I’m just doing my job!’ And so, the mystery was solved—with everyone laughing about it.
4. Have you ever seen someone so serious about their lunch that they forgot to leave the bank? That's what happened last week when a regular walked in with his usual sandwich and never came out. Finally, after an hour of searching, our hero’s neighbor showed up, carrying another sandwich—and a note explaining he’d been waiting for the teller to finish her lunch break. Everyone had a good laugh over coffee that afternoon.
