A few stories people tell about this place
1. A regular was sorting through his mail one afternoon when he noticed something peculiar. Every Tuesday around 3 PM, an old man in a fedora would emerge from the post office with a package wrapped in brown paper and a mysterious smile. Finally curious, our regular followed him outside. The old man stopped, turned around, and winked. ‘Just checking if my package made it safely,’ he said with a twinkle in his eye. Turns out, every week he received a fresh batch of his favorite cookies from a secret neighbor.
2. One morning, a delivery driver pulled up to the Lexington Post Office and noticed an unusual package on the loading dock. Curious, he picked it up—only to discover it contained a letter addressed to ‘The Next Person Who Finds This.’ Opening the envelope, he found another note inside: 'Dear Delivery Driver, please deliver this message to everyone you know.' And attached was a picture of a cat wearing a postal worker’s hat.
3. A little boy walked into the Lexington Post Office with his grandmother one day. As she approached the counter, he suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, pointing excitedly towards the ceiling. ‘Grandma,’ he whispered, ‘is that a bird?’ The old lady looked up and giggled softly. 'No, honey,' she said gently, 'it's just an air vent.' The little boy frowned thoughtfully for a moment, then broke out laughing. 'Oh Grandma!' he exclaimed, 'I thought it was a pigeon trying to get mail!'
4. One day at the Lexington Post Office, an elderly woman approached the counter and asked the clerk, 'Excuse me, where's my package from Russia?' The clerk replied calmly, 'Ma'am, we don't deliver packages from Russia here.' She insisted, 'But it's addressed to me!' Finally, the clerk smiled gently and said, ‘Madam, your package is actually from “Lexington, Kentucky,” not Russia.’ A delivery driver overheard her and laughed, remarking, ‘That’s why I always double-check addresses!’
