It turned out to be an old vinyl record player hidden behind the counter, playing nothing but classic rock ballads. The stylist, startled but amused, replied through the intercom, ‘Sir, you’re our first customer who ever complained about missing shoes!’ The old man grinned and said, ‘Then I guess it’s my lucky day—now I won’t miss mine.’ Everyone laughed, and from that day on, Great Clips had a new sign: “Please don’t leave your shoes in the hallway.”
