About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, a regular asked the teller, ‘Do you guys really keep all those old coins in the basement?’ The teller smiled and said nothing. Since then, customers occasionally spot strange glints from beneath the floorboards. Finally, one day an enthusiastic delivery driver asked jokingly, ‘Hey, does that shine come from gold bars or just really clean pipes?’ The teller laughed and replied, ‘We prefer to think it’s gold.’ And ever since, whenever anyone sees something shiny, they whisper, ‘It must be another secret stash!’
2. In the early afternoon, a delivery driver pulled up to the drive-through window and noticed something peculiar—a faint humming sound coming from inside the credit union building. Curious, he leaned in closer and heard a soft buzzing, like an old fridge left on too long. Suddenly, a friendly voice called out from behind the counter: 'Hey there! Just our new air conditioner testing itself.' The delivery driver smiled, shook his head, and drove off—never realizing that ever since then, City Employees Credit Union had been known as ‘the place with the talking AC’.
3. A neighbor stopped by one day with a curious question for the receptionist. 'I noticed something strange,' they said. 'Every time I pass by here, it seems like the same cars are parked in front of the building.' The receptionist smiled and shrugged. ‘Oh, those are our employees’ cars,’ she replied casually. The neighbor raised an eyebrow. ‘Really? They never seem to change.’ The receptionist laughed softly. ‘Well, you see, most of them work from home these days. So, yeah—same cars, different days!’
4. One day, an elderly gentleman approached the counter and asked the teller, 'Excuse me, do you accept deposits in nickels?' The teller smiled warmly and replied, ‘Of course we do!’ The old man beamed proudly, pulled out his coin purse, and began counting out a small pile of shiny nickels. After a few moments, he looked up and said with a twinkle in his eye, ‘You know, I’ve been saving these for years—one from every state.’ Everyone in line burst into laughter, including the teller who quietly thought, “Next time maybe I’ll ask him if he has quarters too.”
