About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. In Darnley Pharmacy's storied aisles, something peculiar began happening one foggy morning. A little girl, holding her father's hand, stopped mid-step when she saw an old bottle of cough syrup glowing softly on the shelf. As they approached, the bottle seemed to pulse with a soft blue light. The pharmacist, an elderly gentleman known simply as ‘Mr. Jenkins’, smiled and said, “Ah, that’s just our special night-blooming cough syrup. It only glows for children.” The little girl giggled, and off they went—until next time, when maybe the syrup would choose someone else.
2. One rainy afternoon, a delivery driver pulled up to Darnley Pharmacy with an unusual package. As he approached the counter, the pharmacist glanced at him curiously and said, ‘You look like you’ve seen a ghost.’ The driver shook his head, but when he opened the box, everyone in the store saw it too—a tiny umbrella that never stopped opening. Everyone stared in amazement as the little umbrella twirled and spun, never closing. Suddenly, an old lady from the back whispered, 'Oh dear, that's Mr. Jenkins' special order!' Turns out, every time someone bought one of those umbrellas, they got drenched instantly—except for Mr. Jenkins, who always stayed dry.
3. One quiet Sunday morning, a small dog dashed into Darnley Pharmacy’s open door, sniffing curiously around the counter. The pharmacist looked down and smiled, but when he reached for the leash dangling from his apron, it vanished into thin air. Just then, an old neighbor popped in with some groceries. ‘Did you see that little critter?’ she asked, laughing. ‘Nope,’ said the pharmacist, scratching his head. ‘Must’ve been a ghost-dog.’ The neighbor shook her head and replied, ‘No such thing as ghost-dogs here, sonny.’ And with that, the dog trotted out through another door, leaving behind only a whiff of puppy breath.
4. One night, a regular asked the pharmacist, ‘Why does it smell like cookies every time I come here?’ The pharmacist smiled and replied, 'That's because our delivery driver always brings a batch of freshly baked cookies for you!' The regular laughed and shook his head, never realizing that small gestures can make such a big difference.
