About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. It was an unusually quiet morning in downtown Portland when a delivery driver pulled up to The W Nail Bar. As he stepped out of his truck, he noticed something strange—all the mannequins inside were staring right at him with their painted eyes. The delivery driver blinked first and quickly ducked into the bar. Inside, the mannequins’ eyes followed him everywhere, but as he approached the counter, one of them reached out and offered him a cupcake. Turning around, he saw it was just a regular employee with excellent makeup skills. ‘Welcome to The W,’ she said with a smile, ‘we’re open for business!’
2. At closing time, a small dog burst through the front door of The W Nail Bar, sending startled customers scattering for cover. As it turned out, the little fellow belonged to none other than the nail artist’s adorable daughter, who had sneaked him in during her lunch break. With everyone laughing and the dog wagging his tail, he happily trotted off into the back, leaving behind only a few stray toenail polish spots on the floor.
3. While waiting for her mani-pedi, a regular noticed something strange on the wall. ‘Hey,’ she said aloud, pointing, ‘is that new graffiti or just a really bad nail art?’ A delivery driver overhearing the conversation looked up and grinned, “No, it’s not graffiti—it’s my latest attempt at an Instagram filter!” Everyone burst out laughing, realizing the cleverly placed decal was actually a promotional sticker for The W Nail Bar's new line of themed stickers. It turned out to be a fun inside joke among staff, adding a touch of whimsy to what otherwise might’ve been just another ordinary nail salon.
4. While sipping coffee and scrolling through social media, a regular heard an unusual sound from outside. Peering out the window, she saw a manicurist carefully placing a tiny pair of scissors next to a potted plant. Curious, our regular approached closer and noticed that the scissors were perfectly aligned with the shape of a nearby leaf. Just then, a delivery driver arrived, dropped off his package, and casually asked if anyone had seen his missing scissors. Turns out, they were right where he left them—on the table inside.
