About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. At night, when the lights of Flying J were dimmed and most drivers had left, a mysterious voice began echoing over the intercom: ‘Your tank is full of moonlight tonight.’ No one knew who was speaking or why, but every now and then, gas pumps would spit out glowing drops that lit up like stars. One evening, an old man walked in wearing a tattered hat and asked for gas. The attendant filled his tank, and as he drove off, the voice said, 'Your tank’s full of moonlight tonight.' The next day, everyone laughed when they saw his car—its entire hood was covered with tiny twinkling stars!'
2. At dawn, when few trucks were parked outside, a delivery driver noticed something odd on the loading dock—a small wooden box wrapped in old newspaper. Curious, he opened it and found inside an ancient coin collection. Turns out, the box belonged to an elderly trucker who visited regularly. Every morning, our delivery guy would joke with him about finding treasure. The old man just smiled and said, ‘Next time you’ll find a whole chest full!’ And indeed, one day there was—full of stale donuts.’
3. At sunset, when the last trucks pulled away from Flying J, a delivery driver found an old, dusty harmonica in one of the empty baskets. He blew into it once—nothing but dust and nostalgia. But on his next breath, an ancient tune emerged, carrying him back home to his childhood farm. When he played for other drivers, they joined in, creating impromptu jam sessions until midnight, when a neighbor came over with fresh coffee and cookies.
4. At dusk, when the neon sign of Flying J flickered softly, a delivery driver passing by swore he heard faint laughter echoing from inside the empty parking lot. Curious, he approached the deserted building and peered through the window. Inside, amidst the dim light, sat an old man in overalls, reading a newspaper with a smile on his face. ‘Just thought I’d drop by for some company,’ said the man, waving cheerfully. The delivery driver walked away, shaking his head and muttering, ‘Guess that explains why they never close.’
