About this location
A few stories people tell about this place
1. One morning, as customers lined up for their daily fill, an announcement crackled over Conoco’s speakers: ‘Attention, everyone—your lucky number for today is seven.’ Ever since then, locals joke that if you buy exactly seven gallons, your car will never run out of gas on the way home. Soon enough, people started testing it out. A delivery driver bought seven gallons and found his truck delivered without a hitch. A neighbor claimed her lawnmower ran like new after filling up with precisely seven liters. Even the local mechanic admitted he hadn’t seen any cars stranded due to empty tanks ever since.
2. One day, while filling up his truck, a delivery driver noticed something odd on the gas pump display: ‘Welcome, Mr. Smith!’ He wasn’t even named Smith. Curious, he checked his own ID and saw it said ‘Mr. Johnson.’ The attendant shrugged and smiled, saying, ‘It’s Conoco, sir—we know everyone around here!’ And so, our delivery driver became known as Mr. Johnson whenever he filled up at Conoco.
3. One afternoon, while pumping gas into her car, a woman wondered aloud: ‘Why does it always take exactly three minutes for that pump to stop?’ Just then, an old man in line behind her cleared his throat and said, 'Ma’am, I’ve been watching. The pump stops when you finish paying.' She looked down and realized she’d been standing there, mid-pump, with her wallet still in her purse.
4. While filling up her car one evening, a woman swore she heard whispers coming from inside the pump. Curious, she leaned closer and thought she saw a shadow moving behind the glass door. Deciding it was just her imagination, she finished pumping gas and drove off. The next day, while filling up again, she heard the same voice say, ‘Hey, thanks for noticing me!’ Turned out it was an old teddy bear stuck in the nozzle.
